About Mary

Hey, I’m Mary, aka “Running Wifle”.

I started this blog with the intention of writing all about running and healthy recipes but… I got lazy. Between working as an engineer, hanging out with my husband and fur-family, running, and trying to maintain some semblance of sanity, the blog got a bit neglected. Now, I’m using the blog as a method to document my training, races, and whatever else I feel compelled to write about.

Family

My husband and I met while undergraduate students at Oregon State University, where we both studied to become Chemical Engineers. We were married on November 17, 2009 in Cancun, Mexico.

We live in Sacramento, CA with enough animals to justify charging admission to our home. There’s Zoey:

Beans:

Boris the Russian tortoise:

And Gibbs:

For more information on my background, check this out. You can also read about my running here.

  1. Hi there! Thanks for stopping by my blog. It’s so great to ‘meet’ a local girl. I look forward to following along with your blog. I can also relate to your earlier weight loss story. I went through a lot of the same as a kid.

  2. Bay area runners for life!!! 🙂

Did you have a good time yesterday in Oakland?! My garmin did exactly that as well — it was off by .2 miles almost IMMEDIATELY, and stayed that way. I think they jacked us….but that may just be me hoping I really ran a 1:28:30ish.

FYI, I run downtown Oakland ALL the time, and the tall buildings have never messed with me before (as far as I know). And when I upload the race into my computer, it shows the map of the run exactly right.
